Hari Om Higher Self,
Shankhaprakshalana (Long practice of intestinal wash) "If we learn how to purify and manipulate our Prana, we access the source of our being." ~ Swami Satyananda
It is wonderful to learn early in life about good colon management. So take time off for this cleansing that is slow, steady and systematic that allows you to check your strengths, weaknesses, ambitions and needs, to embrace the SWAN theory. It is that time of year again; change of seasons from winter into spring and a full "Spring Cleansing" through Shankhaprakshalana is offered at the school.
NB: Only for students in the school or outside of the school who have already participated in the previous cleansing e.g. Laghoo Shankhaprakshalana (short intestinal wash), Kunjal (regurgitating) and Neti (nostril cleansing) are eligible to participate in the long intestinal wash in order to complete the process and also raise the energies.
- Health benefits: Digestive problems are relieved; the liver and other abdominal organs and glands are toned. Immunity is strengthened, allergies alleviated, symptoms of arthritis are relieved, excessive mucus is reduced and blood being purified are some of the benefits. The entire pranic body is stimulated and harmonized and the Nadis (psychic energy channels) are purified preparing the way for higher states of consciousness and meditation. Any sincere Sadhana (practices) practiced after Full Shankhaprakshalana gives manifold results.
- Please note: that a strict eating program must be adhered to for 1 week after Shankhaprakshalana. No stimulants such as coffee, tea, alcohol, cigarettes or highly salted/spicy flavoured foods or sweets (processed and "junk" foods). Keep the diet as pure and simple and as healthy as possible. The eating program and further information will be provided on the day of cleansing.
- It is recommended that you take the whole weekend of Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th off to rest. Excessive mental and physical activities should be avoided (further information for you to practice during this relaxation program will be provided). It is advised that students participating in the cleansing are asked to drink fruit juice (preferrably paw paw juice) on Friday and not to have any heavy meals, rather have a bowl of light soup if you're feeling hungry at lunch time and a cup of herbal tea before going to bed. No heavy meals on Friday at all and you will find during the healing process your evacuation will be a lot easier!!!
- Remember detoxing is a slow, steady, systematic process. So relax and let go mentally and physically and allow the healing process to happen naturally!!!!
- Discussions and material matter will be handed out after completing the full Shankhaprakshalana e.g food restrictions, advisable eating plan and practices during relaxation over the weekend etc.

NB! Yoga classes will run as normal and students are invited to participate in thefire ceremony.
This is an experience not to be missed by students who have never participated in this beautiful celebration through Havan (fire ceremony) through Yajna(offerings).
